My Girl Rosie

Her recent form — finishing fifth, then ninth, then failing to complete her last race — does not make for encouraging reading, and with no wins to her name she is still waiting for things to click. That said, she raced just yesterday, so she is clearly a horse who is out there being tested regularly.

She is trained by Ian Patrick Donoghue at his yard in Clonalvy, County Meath, and there is some encouragement to take from that. The yard has sent out 29 winners already this season, which tells you this is not an operation that struggles to get horses into winning positions. Whether My Girl Rosie can become one of those winners is the question — but she is in capable hands, and at four years old, there is still time for the penny to drop.
