Win rate and top-3 rate will show once this horse has raced.
What she does have is breeding that suggests genuine ability. She is by Poet's Word, a horse who won at the top level and has already sired multiple winners, out of a Kalanisi mare—solid, honest bloodlines that point toward a horse built to handle proper races rather than be overwhelmed by them. Whether those genes will translate into success on the track, though, is the question that only racing itself can answer.
Moorland Belle will run for Dan Skelton's yard at Alcester in Warwickshire, one of the most consistently successful training operations in Britain. Skelton's team has already sent out 198 winners this season, which speaks to both the quality of the horses in the yard and the trainer's ability to get them right on the day. That said, a debut runner is a debut runner—even the best yards cannot guarantee how a first-timer will behave when gates open and the crowd roars. Moorland Belle's actual racing ability remains completely untested. If she shows early signs of ability, there will be plenty of time to build on it. If she doesn't, well, she would hardly be the first horse with promising pedigree who found the real thing harder than expected.
