Trained by Charlie Fellowes out of Newmarket, Moonrunner is in capable hands. Fellowes has sent out 21 winners already this season, which is a healthy return and marks his yard out as one that knows how to get horses ready to perform. The hope for anyone following Moonrunner will be that some of that form eventually rubs off — the horse raced just yesterday, so it is very much an active campaign, and there is still time for the picture to change.

The honest assessment is that Moonrunner is a horse on the fringes. Close enough to winning to keep you watching, but without the breakthrough moment that would make the profile easier to write. Whether that moment comes depends on finding the right race at the right time — and with Fellowes in the corner, at least the preparation side of things looks solid.
