The recent form figures tell a simple tale: a fifth, then an eighth, then a run so far back it didn't merit a placing number at all. That last outing came just yesterday, so this is a horse very much in the middle of its campaign, still learning the ropes and finding its feet at the lower end of the sport.

What gives some cause for optimism is the yard behind it. Trainer Miss Natalia Lupini operates out of Banbridge in County Down and has sent out 15 winners already this season — a solid return that suggests she knows how to get a young horse ready to perform when the moment comes. A trainer with that kind of season behind her isn't running horses for the sake of it, and the fact that Moon Vega keeps getting entries suggests the team sees something worth persisting with. For a two-year-old, three races is barely an introduction to the sport. Some take a handful of runs just to figure out what racing actually is.
