Monty's Way

The recent form is particularly bleak. In the last six races, Monty's Way has finished eighth, tenth, then came back with a sixth-place finish most recently—nothing remotely close to the winner's circle. The horse clearly has enough ability to place occasionally; three places on the card suggest it can run respectably on its day. But consistency has never been its strong suit, and at this stage of its career, with a decade of racing experience behind it, the question is whether there is anything left to unlock.

Interestingly, the partnership with regular rider P J O'Hanlon has yielded nothing: five races together and not a single win. That lack of chemistry might suggest a change is needed, or it might simply reflect the reality that Monty's Way is a horse that does not win often, regardless of who is in the saddle. Either way, with the horse still active and racing just a day ago, it appears the yard are still giving it chances. Whether those chances will ever come to anything is another matter entirely.
