Modcon is a four-year-old still hunting for a first win after one race to date. The horse finished sixth on its sole outing just a day ago, which means it is fresh and actively campaigning. Trainer
P J Rothwell, based at Tinahely in County Wicklow, will be looking to turn things around quickly. Rothwell's yard has sent out 35 winners this season, so there is clearly competent horsemanship behind Modcon — the trainer knows what he is doing. For a horse that has raced once and not yet broken its duck, the priority now is finding the right race and the right moment. Whether Modcon has the ability to win remains to be seen, but at four years old it still has time to prove itself.
