Mithaaly

What's striking about Mithaaly's recent form is the consistency without dominance. His last four races read 13-1-2-2 — a defeat, then a win, then two places. He won at Windsor four weeks ago, which remains his only success so far, but the fact that he's placed in three of his four starts shows he's competitive and reliable, even when he's not winning. That's the mark of a horse with ability; it's just a question of whether he can string together the performances to rack up more wins. At two years old, he's still learning the game, and with regular racing he should only improve.

George Boughey, who trains Mithaaly at his Newmarket yard, has had an excellent season — his horses have already notched up 99 wins. That kind of form suggests the stable is in good shape and knows how to get horses ready to win. For a young horse still developing his talent, being in a yard firing on all cylinders is a real advantage. Mithaaly isn't setting the world alight yet, but he's shown enough to suggest there could be better days ahead.
