Missus Beeton

The last six races have been a real rollercoaster. After a couple of disappointing runs — finishing ninth on back-to-back occasions — Missus Beeton has come storming back, winning two of the last six races and placing in another. That kind of turnaround is exactly what keeps a horse interesting. The first career win came at Limerick in May 2024, and the most recent was at Leopardstown just five weeks ago in March 2026 — one of Ireland's most prestigious tracks, which suggests this horse is very much operating at a decent level.

The most telling number in Missus Beeton's record is this: on wet or muddy ground, the horse has won 2 from 5 races — that's a 40% win rate, which is extraordinary. To put it in context, most horses win fewer than 1 in 10 races over a career. When the rain comes down and the ground gets soft, Missus Beeton is suddenly a very different proposition, and punters who know their ground conditions will take note.

The partnership with jockey Shane Fitzgerald has been a long one — 11 races together — though they have only combined for 1 win so far, a rate of roughly 1 in every 11 rides. There is clearly a familiarity between horse and rider, even if the results have not always followed. Behind the scenes, trainer J P Dempsey runs a busy and productive yard out of Carbury in County Kildare, having sent out 15 winners already this season — a sign that the operation knows what it is doing.

Having raced just yesterday, Missus Beeton is clearly in a busy spell of form, and with wet weather in the forecast at any point, this is a horse that could easily add to its tally. At eight years old, there is experience in abundance here, and the recent Leopardstown win proves the ability is still very much there.
