Trained by Jennie Candlish at her yard in Basford, Staffordshire, Mission Command operates mainly at Class 4 level — the solid, competitive middle ground of British racing. At that level, the record reads 2 wins from 13 races, which works out at roughly 1 in every 6 or 7 attempts. That's a respectable conversion rate for the grade, and it's where the horse has found its wins. The first came at Ripon in July 2024, followed by a second success at Beverley the following month. Two different tracks, two months, two wins — and then the winning has dried up since.

Those thirds are encouraging in one sense: the horse was consistently finishing in the top three. But horses don't earn prize money indefinitely for nearly winning, and at some point the question becomes whether Mission Command can translate that proximity into a breakthrough. Candlish's yard has sent out 61 winners this season, which suggests a busy, well-organised operation — the platform for another win is there.
