Miss Tiara

Her recent form makes for sobering reading. Looking at her last six outings, the best she has managed is a third place, and the trend has generally been in the wrong direction — a ninth and a sixth in there suggest races where she simply wasn't competitive. She raced just yesterday, which tells you the team are keeping her active and haven't given up on finding the right opportunity.

Lorcan Williams has been her regular partner, riding her in six of those nine races, but the pair are yet to click in a way that produces a win. That's not necessarily a criticism of either horse or jockey — sometimes a combination just hasn't found its moment yet. What it does mean is that 0 from 6 together is a record that needs to change if this partnership is going to continue.

Miss Tiara competes at Class 4 level, which sits in the middle of the racing ladder — not the glamour end, but a perfectly respectable level where solid, honest horses spend much of their careers. She has run four times at that level without winning, and her overall record of zero wins from nine races means she is yet to convert any of her chances. Scott's yard is clearly in decent form this season — 18 winners is a healthy tally — so the ammunition is there. Whether Miss Tiara can contribute to that total remains the question.
