Miss Moonshine has raced at that level 31 times and won 4 of them — a win rate of 13%, or roughly 1 in every 8 races at that grade. She knows the job.

The partnership with jockey Oliver Searle has been the most productive in her career. He has been in the saddle for 30 of her 41 races, and all 4 of her wins have come with him aboard — 4 from 30 together, or 13%. That kind of consistency between horse and rider matters. It suggests a horse that needs to be ridden a particular way, by someone who understands her.

What gives the story a more complicated edge is the current form. Miss Moonshine has not won in six races, and her recent finishes — 8th, well back, 9th, 12th, 9th, 10th — make for uncomfortable reading. Her last win came at Southwell in March 2024, now 27 months ago. She raced just yesterday, so the team at Rod Millman's Devon yard are clearly still confident enough to keep running her. Millman has sent out 42 winners from Kentisbeare this season, so this is an active, capable operation — they would not keep a horse in training without reason.

Whether Miss Moonshine can rediscover winning form is the question her yard will be quietly asking. She has done it before at this level, and with Searle in the saddle she has every chance. But 27 months is a long time between wins, and those recent finishes suggest the task is not getting easier.
