Miss Lady Grace

Both of her victories came in quick succession last June: first at Goodwood on the 5th, then at Chester just a week later on the 12th. That back-to-back brace suggested something was clicking. Since then, however, silence. Four months have passed without another win, and while she has picked up three places from her six most recent races—finishing second and third twice apiece—the pattern reads like a horse struggling to repeat her best form. In her last run, just a day ago, she finished seventh, which is a sharp drop from the decent third-place effort that came before it.

The inconsistency becomes more pronounced when you look at where she competes. At the top level races, her record is frankly bleak: zero wins from three attempts. That tells you she belongs at a lower tier, scrapping it out in competitive mid-range contests rather than mixing with the elite. Dan Horsford's Marlborough yard has found six winners this season, but Miss Lady Grace is not making a habit of joining that winning club lately. She remains active and recent, which means there is still time for her to rediscover the form that lit up that June weekend. Whether she can get back there is the question that will define the next chapter of her racing career.
