Leech, based at Elton in Gloucestershire, has sent out four winners this season, so the stable is clearly capable of getting horses to the track in good order. Minnie Belle, though, has not been among those success stories. With her most recent race coming just yesterday, she is clearly being kept busy, and there may well be a degree of learning-on-the-job happening with a young horse still finding her feet.
At this stage, there is not a great deal to hang optimism on — but four races is still a small sample, and four-year-olds can take time to mature and find their best. The ones to watch for are a first run that suggests something is clicking: a closer finish, a better position turning for home, any sign that the penny is dropping. Minnie Belle has not shown that yet, but she has not been given up on either.
