Minella Buoy

The recent form tells the story of a horse treading water. In the last six outings, Minella Buoy has managed two second-place finishes and a third, scattered among races where it finished further back. That consistency in placing without winning is the hallmark of a horse that is competitive but not quite sharp enough, or not quite suited to the races it is being entered into. Being trained by someone with winners on the board is a good sign—it means the yard knows how to get horses across the line—but it also suggests that this particular horse may simply not be operating at the level of the yard's successful runners. At three years old, there is still time for things to click, but without a win yet and with form that has stalled over the last six races, Minella Buoy will need to find something different soon if it is going to be a winner at all.
