Both of those wins have come at Fontwell Park, the tight, figure-of-eight track in West Sussex, and that is no coincidence. Fontwell suits certain horses like a favourite armchair — the sharp turns and short straights reward a horse that knows the layout, and Millies Mite clearly does. Seventeen races there, two wins. The first came in April 2024, the second exactly a year later in April 2025. There's something almost poetic about a horse that finds its best self at the same place, in the same month, a year apart.

The partnership with jockey Marc Goldstein is the strongest thread running through this career. In 14 races together they've won twice — that's 1 win in every 7 rides, a considerably better ratio than the horse's overall record suggests. When those two are paired up at Fontwell, the evidence says pay attention. Goldstein clearly understands what Millies Mite needs, and the horse seems to respond.

Normal ground conditions are the other key ingredient. On standard going, Millies Mite has won 2 of 18 races — roughly 1 in every 9, which is a meaningful step up from the overall average. Strip away the races run in heavy or unusually fast conditions, and a sharper picture emerges of a horse that has specific, reliable preferences rather than simply being inconsistent.

Karen Jewell's small yard in Kent has sent out three winners this season, which tells you this isn't a high-volume operation churning out runners — every result matters here. Millies Mite races mainly at Class 5, the grassroots level of the sport, and raced just yesterday, so this is very much a horse still in the mix. Six races without a win since April 2025, but the last winning anniversary has only just passed. Fontwell will come around again, and when it does, this one has form worth respecting.
