Midnight Musical

Looking at recent form, there is little cause for optimism. Over its last six outings, Midnight Musical has finished between fifth and eleventh, with no wins and no places in that run. The most recent start a day ago saw it finish eighth, which actually represents some of the better form it has shown lately. When a horse goes six races without troubling the frame, it usually signals that it is racing at or perhaps slightly above its natural level.

What is worth noting is that McCann's yard is certainly capable—seven winners this season shows the trainer knows how to get horses across the line. Whether Midnight Musical has what it takes to become one of them, though, remains in serious doubt after nine races without a victory. At this point, the horse appears to be one that enjoys racing but lacks the necessary pace or consistency to win. It remains one to follow for placings rather than glory days.
