Mic Drop

The most recent win came at Wexford just three weeks ago, on 30 June 2026, and Mic Drop raced again only yesterday — so this is a yard that is keeping the horse busy while it is in form, which is exactly what you do when a horse is running well. The first career win came back in November 2024 at Clonmel, meaning it took a while to get off the mark, but the last six months tell a different story entirely.

One number that really stands out is the record on normal ground conditions — two wins from just five races, which is a 40% win rate. To put that in perspective, most good horses win somewhere between 10 and 25% of their races across a career. When Mic Drop gets the conditions it likes, it becomes a genuinely different proposition.

The partnership with jockey Sean Flanagan spans nine races together and has produced one win — roughly 1 in every 9 rides — which is on the lower side. But with the horse in its current purple patch, that figure may start to look very different before long. Trainer David M O'Brien operates out of Piltown in County Kilkenny, and Mic Drop appears to be the yard's standout performer this season, responsible for its sole winner. For a smaller operation, having a horse in this kind of form at this stage of the season is exactly the sort of thing that makes the whole enterprise worthwhile.
