That one career win came at Dundalk on 27 March 2026, and it remains the sole moment of glory so far. Dundalk is an all-weather, floodlit track — racing held indoors against the Irish winter — so it is worth noting that Methgal found conditions there to its liking. The win came over a distance between seven furlongs and a mile, which is where the horse does its best work. Over those trips, it has won 1 from 11 races, or just under 1 in every 10 — unremarkable on paper, but at least a consistent hunting ground.

The recent form tells a mixed story. Two second-place finishes in the last six races show the horse has been thereabouts, but it has not won since that Dundalk success three months ago, and the most recent outings — a pulled-up run followed by a twelfth and a ninth — suggest things have gone a little flat. Jockey Chris Hayes has been aboard for five of those races without a win, and while it would be unfair to read too much into that, the partnership has yet to click.

Murphy's yard has sent out four winners this season, which shows the stable is in decent working order. Methgal raced just one day ago, so clearly the yard are keeping it busy and looking for opportunities. Whether another trip to Dundalk, over that seven-furlong-to-mile trip that suits it best, might unlock a second career win is the obvious question. For now, this is a horse that places reliably, competes honestly, and is waiting for a race to fall its way.
