Mesolithic is a two-year-old still finding its feet on the track. It made its debut just over a week ago and finished fifth, which is a typical learning experience for a young horse at this stage. The colt is trained by
James Fanshawe at Newmarket, a yard in strong form this season with 44 winners already sent out. With only the one outing under its belt, there is plenty of time for Mesolithic to develop and show what it might become. Fanshawe's operation is well-equipped to bring horses along at the right pace, and a debut that didn't deliver anything but experience is hardly unusual for a two-year-old early in its career.
