Mendez
Mendez is a three-year-old who has yet to find his footing, with two races behind him and nothing to show in terms of wins or places. His recent runs read 6-4, meaning he finished sixth on his first outing and fourth most recently — so there is at least a direction of travel there, even if the finishing line has remained frustratingly out of reach.Based on TrackLab's analysis

Our model's view, based on this horse's career and recent runs
What makes this worth watching is that Mendez raced just one day ago, so he is very much a horse in the middle of his story rather than at the end of it. Two races is a small sample — plenty of horses take time to figure out what is being asked of them, and a step from sixth to fourth suggests something is clicking, even gradually.
He is trained by Chris Timmons, based in Drumree in County Meath, a yard that has sent out five winners already this season. That is a team that knows how to get a horse ready to win, which means Mendez has the support around him to improve. Whether he can translate that improvement into a first win remains to be seen, but at three years old and with the yard clearly still finding the right opportunity for him, it would be premature to write him off.
