Both wins came in the summer of 2024, first at Navan in July and then at Naas in August — two in quick succession, which suggested a horse hitting a purple patch. Since then, though, the wins have dried up completely. Mehmar has gone 22 months without getting back to the winner's enclosure, and the recent form makes fairly uncomfortable reading: a third, a sixth, a pulled-up run, a twelfth, an eighth, and a fifth in the last six races. That is not a horse trending upward.
What keeps things interesting is that Mehmar raced just yesterday and is clearly still in active training, so whoever has this horse has not given up on finding another day. At 6 years old there is still time, but the gap back to that last win is now long enough that recapturing that summer 2024 form would be a genuine surprise rather than an expectation.
