Medway Queen

The horse races for William Muir and Chris Grassick's Lambourn yard, a stable that has already sent out 20 winners this season, so there is clearly competence and resources behind the operation. However, at Class 5 level—the lower rungs of British racing—Medway Queen has managed only three places from four attempts, which is not an impressive win rate in that grade where many horses are capable of winning. The most recent run came just a day ago, keeping the horse active and in work, but the pattern remains unbroken: solid efforts without quite getting over the line.

For a 4-year-old, the window for finding that first win is beginning to narrow. Medway Queen is clearly honest and honest horses have value, but so far this one has been a place-getter rather than a winner. Whether that changes will depend on finding the right race and the right moment—something that has eluded the horse through five attempts so far.
