That single victory came at Stratford-on-Avon on 16 June, and it remains the high point of Mayday Games's career. Since then, nothing has quite clicked. The horse has raced six times and managed only that one third-place finish to show for it, with eleventh and seventh-place efforts bookending more modest results in between. The pattern suggests a horse that can run reasonably on its day but lacks the consistency or class to break through regularly. Tellingly, in four attempts at the higher Class 5 level, Mayday Games has yet to win—a sobering 0 from 4—which hints that any future success may come back at lower levels where that Stratford victory was earned.

Lycett's yard at Leafield has only sent out two winners all season, so there is no sense of an operation firing on all cylinders. Still, Mayday Games remains active and competing, which means the trainer has not given up on the horse. At seven years old, it is experienced enough to know what a race day is about, but still young enough that improvement is theoretically possible. Whether another win materializes is another matter, but the horse's willingness to keep running suggests there is at least a small chance that lightning could strike twice.
