Maury

The recent form tells the story of a struggling animal. In the last six outings, Maury has managed one finish in the top 3 but has otherwise faded well down the field — including a couple of ninth-place finishes. Ridden most often by Georgia Dobie, the partnership has yet to produce a win from eleven attempts together, which suggests either the jockey and horse haven't quite clicked or that Maury simply hasn't been good enough when it matters. Trained by Craig Benton at Epsom, the yard is having a respectable season with seven winners sent out so far, but Maury isn't contributing to that tally.

The horse does show one hint of promise: it performs measurably better at distances between seven furlongs and a mile, winning 1 of 13 races at that trip compared to nothing at other distances. That's still only 8%, but it's the closest Maury comes to finding form. When racing at the higher competitive level — Class 6 races — the horse has won nothing from six attempts, suggesting it simply lacks the quality to compete where the racing gets tougher. Maury was last out just a day ago and is still active, though at this stage it is a horse struggling to justify its place in training.
