Master Harry

His recent form figures of 5-8-6-5-2-3 are worth a closer look. That second-place finish two runs back suggests there is ability in there somewhere, and he hasn't been running badly enough to suggest he's completely out of his depth. But zero wins from eight races at this stage of his career means patience is very much the order of the day. Most of his racing has come at Class 5 level — the lower end of the British racing ladder, where the competition is more accessible — and yet he has still gone winless in five races at that level. That's a fact that raises honest questions about when, or whether, the breakthrough might come.

He ran just yesterday, so he is very much in the thick of his campaign right now. Trained by Stephen Hanlon out of Constable Burton in North Yorkshire, he's part of a yard that has sent out four winners this season, which shows there's form in the stable. The frustration for the team will be that Master Harry hasn't yet added to that tally. Still, at three years old he has time on his side, and horses can improve significantly through their second and third seasons as they mentally and physically develop. Whether he turns that second place into a winner's photograph is the question his supporters are waiting to see answered.
