Master Dandy

The bulk of Master Dandy's racing life has been spent at Class 6, the entry level of British racing, and that is where he has found his best form. He has won 3 of his 16 races at that level — close to 1 in every 5, which is actually a healthy return. It suggests a horse that, given the right conditions and the right company, is competitive enough to get his nose in front.

His first career win came at Newcastle in November 2023, and his most recent was at Chelmsford on 29 January 2026 — five months ago now. Chelmsford is a floodlit all-weather track in Essex that runs year-round, and winning there tends to require a horse that handles a consistent, reliable surface well. That Master Dandy got the job done there is worth noting, even if it was a while back.

The recent form tells a more complicated story. Reading it from most recent back — 3rd, 16th, 7th, 8th, 1st, 2nd — you can see the shape of a horse whose last win was followed by a dip. A 16th place finish anywhere is a tough result, though horses have off days just like anyone else. He raced just yesterday, finishing third, which at least suggests he is in active work and still finding the frame.

One curiosity: his most regular jockey, Darragh Keenan, has ridden him five times without a win between them. That is not necessarily damning — plenty of partnerships take time to click, or simply run into bad luck — but it is a stat worth watching. Keady's yard has sent out 16 winners this season, so there is no shortage of form in the stable. Whether Master Dandy can add to that tally before the season is out is the question his small band of followers will be asking.
