Masego

Recent form doesn't offer much encouragement either. Over the last six races, Masego has finished 5th, pulled up or was withdrawn at some point, then followed up with a 4th, 5th, 7th, and 13th. That last number — 13th — suggests a particularly rough outing, though the more recent finishes in fourth and fifth hint that it may be gradually finding its feet again. Racing just one day ago, it remains active and in training, so the search for that elusive first win is very much ongoing.

The horse is trained by Ms Margaret Mullins at her yard in Goresbridge, County Kilkenny, a well-regarded operation that has sent out 6 winners already this season. That the yard is producing winners while Masego continues to wait for its moment isn't necessarily a damning sign — trainers often have horses at very different stages of development — but it does mean there's a capable team around it that clearly knows how to get a horse ready to win. Whether Masego can join that tally is the question.
