In his last six races, he has won three times but also failed to finish in the top 3 twice — once at Ayr, where the ground came up desperately wet and sticky, conditions the trainer feels may not have suited him. Ryan Mania, who has ridden him in seven races, has managed just one win aboard him (14%), so the partnership has not been especially prolific. The trainer is still learning what Marty McFly needs, having had him relatively recently.
