Margot Mae

With just one place finish from four races, Margot Mae is very much a work in progress, which is entirely normal at this stage. Two-year-olds are barely broken in, and plenty of future winners take time to find their feet. She is trained by Mrs John Harrington at Moone in County Kildare, a yard that has already sent out 53 winners this season—a sign of a properly functioning operation that knows how to develop young talent. The fact that Margot Mae remains active in the racing programme and is still being sent out to race suggests her the yard believe there is something to work with here. That third-place finish on her last outing will have done her no harm at all, and at two years old, the best may still be ahead of her.
