What makes the picture slightly more encouraging is his recent form. His last six races include two runner-up finishes, which suggests he is at least knocking on the door rather than drifting towards the back of the field. He raced just yesterday, so he is clearly fit and active. His regular partnership with jockey Bryan Carver has now stretched to eight races together without a breakthrough, a run that must be testing both horse and rider. The yard itself is in decent nick this season — five winners sent out — so the support structure is there.
Man Oh Man competes mostly at Class 5, which is the entry level of British racing, and he has still not managed to win at that grade in four attempts. That is the honest reality of where things stand. Some horses take time, and some never quite get there — but with a second place as recently as two races ago, there is still a reasonable argument that the right day, the right race, and the right conditions could finally bring it all together for him.
