Make The Plan

Jockey Phillip Enright has been the regular partner throughout much of this, riding Make The Plan in six of those 12 races without managing a win between them. That is not necessarily a criticism of either horse or rider — sometimes a combination simply hasn't clicked, and sometimes a horse just finds one or two too good on the day. But six attempts together with nothing to show for it is a notable statistic either way.

What keeps things interesting is that Make The Plan raced just yesterday, so this is a horse in active training with McKiernan clearly still believing there is something to work with. The yard has sent out six winners already this season, which shows they know how to get a horse to the line first — the formula just hasn't worked for this particular animal yet. At eight years old, time is not exactly on Make The Plan's side, but stranger things have happened than a horse finally breaking its duck deep into its career. For now, though, the win column remains stubbornly empty.
