Mahler's Best

Patrick T Foley's yard at Bagenalstown has been productive this season with twelve winners already sent out, so there is experience and form in the stable. Whether Mahler's Best will be the next to break the ice for Foley, or whether it will remain a horse that runs races without quite winning them, remains to be seen. What is clear is that at six years old, time is not infinite — horses that have raced four times without a win are often showing their level, and consistency is usually more valuable than false hope. All the same, Mahler's Best is still out there racing, still being given chances, and that fourth place from earlier in this recent run suggests there may yet be a race at the right distance, over the right ground, and against the right field where things click into place.
