The recent form makes difficult reading. Her last six runs show finishes of eleventh, eleventh, fifth, tenth, and eleventh — with two non-completions in the mix as well. The fifth-place finish stands out as her best effort in that sequence, but she hasn't built on it, and she hasn't raced at all for roughly eight months. A break that long raises questions: whether it was planned, enforced by a minor setback, or simply a reflection of the yard waiting for the right opportunity, we don't know — but horses returning from that kind of absence can be ring-rusty or, occasionally, transformed.
Phillip Enright has been her regular partner, riding her in six of those seven races without managing a win between them. That's not a criticism of either horse or jockey — sometimes a partnership just doesn't click, or the right race simply hasn't come along. Josh Halley, who trains her out of Fethard in County Tipperary, has sent out two winners this season, so the yard is ticking over, if not setting the world alight. For Lucy Wang to make her mark, she'll need things to fall into place in a way they haven't yet.
