The two second-place finishes came alongside a pair of fourth-place efforts and finishes of third and seventh, a pattern that reveals a horse capable of competitive racing but not of the consistency needed to break through.

Mark Walford's yard at Sheriff Hutton has been in good form this season — sending out 35 winners — but Loulou Madrik remains an outlier in that mix. It races mostly in Class 4 events, where the competition sits at a mid-level standard, and has lost all six of those races. Jamie Hamilton, its most frequent rider, has partnered the horse five times with no wins to show for it. With the horse last out just a day ago, Loulou Madrik remains in active competition, still hunting for that elusive first victory.
