That one win came at Warwick on New Year's Eve 2022 — now 41 months ago — and it remains the sole peak of a career spent mostly at Class 2 level, some of the better races in Britain. Lord Snootie has run six times at that level without winning once. That is not a failure of nerve; it is simply a horse operating at a high standard where the margins are tight and the competition unforgiving. Being placed repeatedly at Class 2 is no small thing, but it does mean the winner's cheque keeps going elsewhere.

The partnership with jockey Jack Tudor has been the most consistent thread through recent seasons — 14 races together, 1 win, a win rate of 7%, or just 1 in every 14 rides. Tudor knows this horse as well as anyone, and the recent form suggests they are not far away: the last six runs read 10th, a non-completion, 2nd, 3rd, 8th, and 2nd in most-recent-first order. Two seconds and a third in that sequence is encouraging, and Lord Snootie raced just yesterday, which means the team at Christian Williams's yard clearly believe there is still something to aim at.

Williams trains out of Ogmore-By-Sea on the Glamorgan coast and has sent out 25 winners this season, so this is a yard in good form. Lord Snootie may not be adding to that tally regularly, but a horse that places this often at a decent level still earns its keep, and still earns another entry. The wait for win number two goes on — but given what the recent form shows, it may not go on forever.
