Lola De Magny

Trained by Andy Irvine out of Ashurstwood in East Sussex, she is part of a yard that has sent out five winners already this season, so there is clearly ability being developed on that patch of the South Downs. Irvine's operation is a smaller yard making its presence felt, and a horse like Lola De Magny — consistent enough to place but not yet over the line — is exactly the type that can surprise once everything clicks.

Her recent form shows a third-place finish at her last run, just 15 days ago, which means she is fit, active, and in the mix. The gap in the middle of her form — those two unplaced efforts — will be worth watching as the yard try to find the right race to bring the best out of her. At five, she is not young, but she is not old either, and some horses simply take time to work out what is being asked of them. The next few months could be telling.
