That second-place finish was the highlight, and it matters. Finishing second in your debut or early races as a two-year-old is genuinely encouraging — it means the horse is competitive, just not yet able to get its nose in front when it counts. The slide to fourth and then seventh since then suggests Liveadream is still finding its feet, which is entirely normal at this age. Two-year-olds are essentially teenagers — still developing, still learning what racing actually asks of them.

The horse raced just yesterday, so it is right in the thick of an active campaign. Trainer Phillip Makin, based at Easingwold in North Yorkshire, has sent out nine winners so far this season, which shows the yard knows how to get a horse ready to win. The key question is simply when Liveadream puts it all together. With more experience and the right opportunity, that first win could come sooner than the current record might suggest.
