That solitary win came at Galway back in September 2023, now 35 months ago, and it remains the defining moment of a modest career. Galway is one of Irish racing's most atmospheric venues, a festival track where the atmosphere can lift a performance, and Listentillitellyea seized its moment there. The trouble is, it has not been able to repeat the trick since — going six races without a win since that day, with recent finishes of ninth and sixth suggesting it is plugging away without threatening the front of the field.

The partnership with jockey Darragh O'Keeffe tells a similar story. Together they have raced 19 times and won once — a 5% win rate, or one success from every 19 rides together. That is not a knock on either horse or jockey; some horses simply find the winner's enclosure harder to reach than others, and Listentillitellyea has been consistent in its inconsistency. Trainer Thomas Gibney, based at Trim in County Meath, has sent out five winners this season, so the yard is clearly capable of getting horses ready to win. Listentillitellyea, though, has not added to that tally.

What keeps this profile from being purely downbeat is the sheer persistence involved. This horse raced just one day ago and is still out there competing at the age of ten. For a horse with a single career win, that longevity and continued activity says something — it is durable, it enjoys racing, and someone clearly believes there is another good day somewhere in the locker. Whether Galway will once again provide the magic remains to be seen, but for now Listentillitellyea keeps turning up, and in racing, that counts for something.
