Liberated Light

The horse runs for John E and Thomas Kiely, a training partnership operating from an undisclosed yard that sent out only two winners all season. Liberated Light is clearly one of their better earners. Most of the time he is ridden by Mr J L Gleeson, and the pair have a decent understanding — they have won together three times from 23 races, which is nearly 13 per cent, considerably better than his overall figures. That sort of win rate with one jockey suggests the horse runs a bit better when they are in tune.

Distance is Liberated Light's friend. When the race goes beyond a mile and a half, particularly around the 1m6f to 2m range, he perks up noticeably. He has won once from seven races at those trips — not a brilliant record, but there is something there. His last win came at Tramore on 30 May 2026, four months ago, which shows he is still capable. More recently, his form has been a touch mixed. In his last six races he has finished ninth, fifth, third, fourth, fifth, and first, which suggests he is running reasonably well but not consistently. He was out again only a day ago, so he is actively campaigned and clearly still a horse his trainer thinks can win races. He tends to run in lower-grade races — Class 5 events — where he has had no luck so far, though that is a small sample size and may simply reflect where the yard has chosen to run him.
