Layenda

Trained by C A Murphy at Gorey in County Wexford, Layenda is part of a yard that has found its form this season with nine winners already sent out. Murphy clearly knows how to get horses ready, which leaves open the possibility that Layenda simply hasn't yet found the right race or conditions to finally break through. At five years old, time is not necessarily running out — plenty of horses take longer to get the job done — but the winless streak is now substantial. Still, being active and regularly raced suggests the horse is sound and genuine, and those two placings show it is capable of running respectably. For a horse this far down the learning curve, it is not impossible to imagine a maiden win arriving at some point, though it will likely require patience.
