Laganhill

Trained by Henry Daly out of Ludlow in Shropshire, Laganhill races at Class 3 level — a solid middle tier where the competition is serious without quite reaching the top end of the sport. The yard has been in decent form this season, sending out 17 winners, and Laganhill has contributed to that tally. Across nine races in total, the horse has won twice and placed five times, giving it a win rate of roughly 1 in every 4.5 races — better than average for horses at this level.

Sam Twiston-Davies has been in the saddle for seven of those nine outings, winning once together from those seven rides. That is a 14% win rate between them — modest on paper, but the partnership has clearly been consistent enough to keep the booking. The first career win came at Haydock Park on 30 December 2024, with the second following at Bangor-on-Dee on 7 February 2025. That second win is now 14 months ago, and Laganhill has gone six races without winning since — a sequence that will be testing the patience of everyone at the yard.

The recent form does at least show signs of life. Finishes of third, fourth, and two seconds in that six-race winless run suggest the horse is placing consistently without quite finding the extra gear needed to get back to the winner's enclosure. A pulled-up run sits in there too, but the broader picture is of a horse still competing respectably. With a race just yesterday and the wet-ground record sitting there as an obvious pointer, the yard will be watching the forecast carefully.
