Lady Delila

Her recent form makes for interesting reading. In her last six races she has finished 7th, 3rd, 3rd, 2nd, 9th, and 5th — reading from oldest to most recent, that 2nd place is the high-water mark, and the back-to-back 3rd place finishes show a horse that has been running with some consistency. She raced just yesterday, so she is very much an active participant in the game right now.

Jockey Donagh O'Connor has ridden her five times without a win between them, which is a partnership that has yet to click in the way both would hope. That said, zero wins from five rides is not unusual for a horse who has not won from 19 overall — they are both working with the same raw material. Lady Delila typically competes at Class 6, which is the entry level of British racing, and she has not won in any of her four races at that level either. For context, Class 6 is where the sport gives horses every possible chance to win — so the fact she has not broken through yet is a genuine puzzle worth watching.
