The recent form makes for slightly more encouraging reading, with a second-place finish and a fourth in the last six outings suggesting Krak is at least mixing it with horses it can match, even if the victory has stayed out of reach.

The regular partnership with jockey J J Slevin has produced that one win from six rides together, a win rate of around 1 in 6, which is actually a reasonably solid record given how hard Krak finds winning. It is worth noting that Krak has drawn a blank in three attempts at Class 3 level — one step below the very top races in Britain — which may suggest the horse is currently operating at the upper edge of what it can comfortably handle.
