Kotgar

Recent form tells a similar story. Looking at the last six runs, with the most recent first: a third, a fifth, a non-completion, a seventh, a fourth, and a sixth. There are occasional flickers of promise in there — that third-place finish in particular shows Kotgar can get competitive — but the horse has not been able to convert any of those efforts into a win. At the level it typically races at, Class 4, the record reads zero wins from five attempts, which is where most of its opportunities have come and where it has yet to really click.

Kotgar is trained by Mrs C Williams at her yard in Llancarfan, in the Vale of Glamorgan. It is a small, active operation — three winners already on the board this season — and the team clearly keep Kotgar busy, with a race as recently as yesterday. That level of activity suggests they believe there is something to work with, even if the results have not yet come. Sometimes a horse just needs that one perfect day to fall into place: the right race, the right ground, the right moment. For Kotgar, that day is still out there.
