Kitty's Dream

Jockey Kieran O'Neill has been in the saddle for five of those seven races and is yet to find the answer, with nothing better than those mid-pack finishes to show for the partnership. That is not necessarily a criticism — a jockey can only work with what he has beneath him — but the consistency of the underperformance does suggest the problem runs deeper than riding tactics.

Kitty's Dream competes at Class 6, which is the entry level of British racing, the division designed for horses that have struggled to win at higher grades. Even there, she has drawn a blank in all three attempts. Ed Dunlop's yard at Newmarket is clearly in decent form this season — 36 winners is a solid return — so the horses are not short of preparation or care. Kitty's Dream simply has not found a way to translate that into results on the track. She raced just yesterday, so the team clearly have not given up on her, and with seven races banked she is still relatively lightly tried. Whether a change of conditions or a slightly different race finds her out is the question the yard will be trying to answer.
