The win came at Southwell just this week, on 2nd June 2026, which means the memories are fresh and the momentum is real. Southwell is a tight, all-weather track in Nottinghamshire that suits certain horses down to the ground — some love it, some never quite click with it — and Kingofthefrontier clearly handled it well enough to come home in front on debut there. Whether that affinity continues is one of the more interesting questions hanging over the next few runs.
The trainer is John Dawson, operating out of Cleveland in North Yorkshire. It's a smaller yard that has sent out two winners this season, so Kingofthefrontier accounts for half of that total — which tells you this isn't a sprawling operation throwing horses at every race meeting, but one where each winner carries genuine weight. When a yard of this size produces a winner, it tends to mean something has been done right.
Two races is too small a sample to draw firm conclusions, but a win and a third from two outings is a decent foundation. The next race will tell us considerably more.
