King of The Dance

His recent form shows the kind of inconsistency you expect from a horse of his age and experience. In his last six outings, he has picked up a couple of places, including a win at Ffos Las just last week on 21 September, but has also run fourth and third on other occasions—the pattern of a horse who is reliable enough to be competitive but not one who will win you money if you keep backing him. He was raced just a day ago, so he remains an active part of Bernard Llewellyn's yard at Fochriw in Mid Glamorgan, where the trainer has sent out twelve winners this season.

Interestingly, King of The Dance has raced nine times with jockey Jessica Llewellyn and has not managed to win with her in the saddle, despite being a horse capable of victories. The trainer has always seen potential in him. After a third-place finish at Windsor over six furlongs in 2022, King of The Dance suffered setbacks that kept him sidelined, but when he returned to racing at Lingfield, he showed he still had something left to offer. He was rustier than ideal at that comeback, but he sharpened up quickly, and the trainer held genuine hopes of him becoming a dark horse later in the season—a horse capable of surprising at better odds when conditions and circumstances aligned.
