His breakthrough came at Redcar on 23 September, and he has since struck again this week at Leicester on 13 October, suggesting he is a horse gathering momentum rather than one still learning his trade. The win at Leicester came after a pair of seventh-place finishes, which shows typical two-year-old inconsistency — racing is still very new to him — but the fact that he bounced straight back to the winner's enclosure is encouraging. Tim Easterby, who trains him at Great Habton in North Yorkshire, has sent out 128 winners from the yard this season, and King of Persia sits within a stable clearly in form. At this stage of a young horse's career, two wins from six races is solid work, and the fact that he has won twice in the last few weeks suggests his the yard have found the right races for him. With only a few outings under his belt and two victories already on the board, there is every reason to think he will improve as he gains experience and understanding of what racing demands.
