Keep It Together

The recent form makes for difficult reading. In the last six races, the best result was a seventh, with finishes of tenth, fourteenth, and twelfth filling out the rest of a tough spell. Two gaps in that sequence suggest a couple of missed races along the way, possibly for a rest or a minor setback. Whatever the reason for those breaks, they haven't sparked the turnaround the team will have been hoping for.

What keeps this interesting is that Keep It Together is still at it — raced just yesterday, still competing at eight years old despite never having won. For a horse's team, that persistence speaks to something: a belief, perhaps, that the right race and the right day are still out there. Whether that faith is well-placed is another question entirely.
