Kashala is by Lope De Vega, a stallion with a strong record of producing horses that develop and improve as they get older, which bodes well for a young horse just finding its feet. Her mother's side carries the influence of Rock Of Gibraltar, a horse associated with speed and toughness. On paper at least, the bloodlines suggest a horse that should be competitive on a flat track in normal conditions.
What gives Kashala's debut genuine interest is the trainer sending her out. D K Weld is one of the most respected names in Irish racing, operating out of Curragh in Co Kildare, and his yard has already sent out 29 winners this season alone — that is a operation firing on all cylinders. When a stable in that kind of form introduces a new horse, it tends to mean they like what they have seen at home. Weld does not run horses for the experience of running them.
Beyond that, there is nothing to say — no races, no performances, no track record to judge. The debut is the story, and the next few minutes on a racecourse will tell us more than any profile can.
